1. 1846 gold was sought in the lands known as Yerba Buena.

2.1849, because of the Gold Rush, the city was renamed to San Francisco.

5. An earthquake struck San Francisco in 1906, and the fire that was caused by the quake lasted three days causing devastation all over the city.
